Gaskets are often made from chemically resistant rubber, copper or layers of steel. They are exposed to temperature extremes, high pressures and friction. This causes them to break down over time. It is a good idea to make sure the mechanic checks the seals and gaskets every time you have your oil changed. If a problem is found, they should be replaced promptly. A leak never gets better on its own.
Fox Grand Traverse Lincoln recommends stopping by their service department to have your gaskets checked if you have not done this in quite some time.
