It's that time of year again. The leaves are falling, the air is getting colder, and winter is just around the corner. Of course, you're not going to let this weather stop you from enjoying your favorite outdoor activities! But before you head out for a day in the snow or ice, make sure to put together your winter survival kit. This handy checklist will help ensure that you have all of the essentials on hand when it comes time to bundle up and brave mother nature!

1) Waterproof boots and extra pairs of thick socks.

2) A sturdy winter coat with a hood that can fit over your ski mask or scarf to provide extra warmth

3) Two large trash bags (at least one mil thick).

4) $20 in cash stashed away somewhere on your person. If you're stranded, this might help you make a phone call.

5) Two Ziploc bags (1 Gallon or smaller). These can be used to store your hands and feet if they begin to get too cold. They make great foot/hand warmers that are reusable!

6) A few chemical hand & toe warmers.

7) A pack of instant soup cups. Bonus points if you have some hot cocoa mix to go along with it!

8) A pry bar or tire iron. This could be useful for digging your car out of the snow

9) About 100 ft of duct tape rolled up in a tight bundle. This can be used to repair clothing, start a fire, or seal up the trash bags you brought if it begins to rain.

10) A small tent. It can't hurt!

11) A pack of tarps.
